“Mom and Pop shop” perfectly described TLC The Label Company as it was founded in 1986. K. Ivan Narragon Sr. and Laura Narragon founded the company with the intention of printing high quality labels with value added customer service.
The one printing press that Ivan Sr. purchased in 1986, soon turned into six machines working to print labels.
After 17 years in the business, and Ivan Sr. approaching 70 years of age, he and Laura wished for some time to retire, relax, and to take a few long motor home trips around the country.
In May 2003, three brave souls decided to grant the Narragons their wish. Richard Florez, Eric Jones and Margie Martinez purchased the business from the Narragons. With over 40 years of combined experience in the label industry, they were ready to lead TLC into a bright future.
We like say that since 2003, no stone has been left unturned at TLC. The vision for TLC was to build it into the premier label company in the United States. Four new printing presses have been added. New state of the art computer systems have been integrated into TLC’s manufacturing flow. The company moved into a newly remodeled facility in Santa Ana, California in 2005, and in September of 2006, TLC opened up an east coast manufacturing site in Hackensack, New Jersey.
TLC now boasts over 30,000 square feet of manufacturing space between the two facilities. The company achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification in 2007, and in February 2009 TLC earned FSC Certification. TLC is also certified as a minority owned enterprise by the Southern California Minority Business Development Council. Additionally, TLC was honored by one of our customers in July 2009 by earning a nomination for Minority Supplier of the Year.
TLC still has the Mom and Pop shop attitude in regards to customer service, but with the muscle of being one of the largest privately owned label companies in the United States. This combination of capital investment, employee training, technology and customer focus has fueled TLC’s unprecedented 400% sales growth over the past 6 years.
With TLC, you are not just a customer; you are a partner and a member of the TLC Family. Your success is our success, and we never take that for granted.
Welcome home!
